Try Something New for 30 Days

Maybe you have see this "Ted Talk" by Matt Cutts about behavior change. He suggest that adding or subtracting habits in your life takes approximately 30 days and anyone can do something for 30 days.  Maybe you aren't going to take pictures everyday or write the not so great American novel like Matt did, but you can make changes to your eating habits.

Here is my list of 10 ways to change the way you eat that will be meaningful to your health:
1.  Eliminate salt.
2.  Eliminate sugar.
3.  Eat fruit for breakfast.
4.  Substitute quinoa for rice and potatoes.
5.  Eat fish at least once a week.
6.  Follow the Mediterranean Diet at least once a week.
7.  Avoid fast food.
8.  Eliminate sodas.
9.  Eliminate fried foods.
10.  Reduce alcohol consumption.

Pick one or two of these habits and try the new behavior for 30 days.  You may find it sticks with you.

Find more great information in the 30 Day Total Health Makeover by Marilu Henner. Daily menu and recipes are preplanned for you. She provides the shopping lists, and mentions her favorite brands for cereals, soups, salad dressings, sauces, grains, and frozen foods. Henner's aim is to assist you with weight loss (if necessary), and to help you change your relationship with food

Awesome list, Marsha. It is so helpful to have concrete, specific actions to focus on when trying to make a change. I have already added fruit to my breakfast regularly -- I now pledge to do it every day for the month of August. Also eat fish at least once a week in August. Thanks for the great post!
