Pretty as a picture, this plate presented by Restaurant 1830 in Havana, Cuba puts their national tree, the Royal Palm, front and center. A friend didn't care for the asparagus, but I thought the effort made up for a canned vegetable. The main course was a white fish with rice, vegetables, and a whipped something resembling a potato. Dessert was cake with artful chocolate drippings.
The beautiful colonial home had several formal dining rooms with large floral arrangements and a deck. The bathroom was self-serve, without the ubiquitous attendant parceling out paper. A pianist played Frank Sinatra, what more could you want?
I found the food in Cuba so much better than expected that I brought my Wild Planet canned tuna home.
